Sakura Kinomoto and Syaoran Li met because of the clow cards. As it happens, Sakurawas in her father's study room and found a book called the "Clow Book" when she opensit, she found 52 Clow Cards, 4 which were powerful elements, Fire, Wind, Water & Earth. She took out the windy card and accidentally calls upon its powers. Thus, causing all theother cards to be blown away. Because she had released them, she would be the one to bring them back. Kerberos, or Kero-chan, the guardian of the cards woke up and was veryupset at first, but decided to help Sakura get the cards back. Later in the series (aftercatching a but a few cards) she has a dream about a boy in a chinese costume. The nextday at school (surprise! surprise!) there's a new transfer student in her class named Syaoran Li. When he comes in and sees Sakura, he stares hard at her and doesn't take his eyes off her. Syaoran ends up sitting right behind her and spends the entire class glaring ather back (which she senses and gets all nervous) At recess, Syaoran finds Sakura and takes out a Lasin board and it revealed that Sakura does have the Clow Cards. He demanded that Sakura handed over all the Clow Cards, but Sakura wouldn’t so he tried to take them by force, which didn't work because her brother stopped him. They had their first battle with a clow card together that night. After the card was sealed, Syaoran basically implied that Sakura was an idiot when it came to capturing cards. I think he practically insulted her everyday. They worked together the next view battles and Syaoran started to be a bit nicer to her (kinda...) This is about the time when Meilin Li arrives! She's Syaoran's fiance and cousin from back home. Meilin was very "clingy" to Syaoran infront of Sakura so she wouldn't think of stealing him from her (which Sakura had no intention of at the time) Meilin, not having any real magical abilities, became a card captor. Much later she returned to Hong Kong. After all the cards had been captured, Sakura and Syaoran had established a nice friendship (though he was still really serious and grim about everything) a new transfer student arrived from England named, Hiiragizawa Eriole. He was very nice and polite to Sakura, which in a way, bothered Syaoran and he didn't know why. One day Sakura, Syaoran and Sakura's best friend, Tomoyo, were in a store and Sakura (having a likeness for bears) bought a teddybear-kit. Sakura and Tomoyo didn't know at the time, but Syaoran also bought the kit and made a cute, dark blue bear byhimself, which he didn't know what to do with until he heard someone say that when you make a bear, you sew your name on it and give it to the person that you love. That's when he saw Sakura and got all these "funny feelings" ..when Sakura turned around and greeted him, Syaoran ran away as fast as he could! The episodes after that basically had him get really jealous when he saw Sakura and Eriole together, or be really protective of Sakura when a battle (to change the clow cards into "sakura's cards" -third season) occured. In a memorable event, the two of them were locked in an elevator when the wall suddenly vanished and Sakura was walking backwards toward it. Syaoran (our little hero!) ran to grab her but he missed her hand and she fell down the shaft. He freaked out and screamed her name (in which he screamed "Sakura" instead of "Kinomoto") She survived with the help of her float card though! When she got back up, Syaoran was relieved and hugged her. After that episode, Syaoran called Sakura, "Sakura" and Sakura called Syaoran,"Syaoran" (instead of "Li") I guess that ment that they were closer friends now. After the final battle to seal her clow cards, Syaoran (all weak and struggling to stand up) finally told Sakura that he loved her. It impacted her a lot because I don't think she had any idea! She could barely say "good morning" to him the next day. Syaoran got a call from his mother later and he was told to return to Hong Kong because all the cards had been captured and sealed. He never told this to Sakura, but met her after school on the bridge to tell her that he was thankful for have met her. At this point, Sakura was trying toanswer him back (when he had told her he loved her) but he ran away before she could! She found out from Tomoyo that Syaoran was leaving and ran to the airport to see him. She still couldn't tell him how she felt, so instead, she asked if she could have his bear (the little dark blue one Syaoran had made) Syaoran smiled (I love it when he smiles!) and gave it to her. Before he got on his plane, Sakura's last words to him were, "We shall meet again, right?"

Four months later (this takes place in the second Card Captor Sakura movie) Sakura and Tomoyo are in an amusement park, when Sakura senses a strange force inside the park. She ran into the park and accidentally crashed into someone. The person grabbed her wrist so she wouldn't fall over when she lost her balance. She apologized and looked up to see that the person was Syaoran! Then they just kinda gape at each other and Meilin comes running around the corner! They go to a small park and Meiling and Syaoran explain that they came back for the festival (or at least, that's what he said. Meiling had other intentions) She tells Sakura secretly that her engagement to Syaoran is off and that she knew Syaoran loved someone else so she decided to just let it happen. Meilin and Tomoyo planned to playmatchmaker and get Sakura to tell Syaoran that she loved him too. Syaoran and Sakura were put into all these awkward situations (for example, Meilin stuck them on the ferriswheel ride together) but she was always interrupted when she tried to tell him how she felt. At the time, Sakura was playing a princess in a class play. But when the leading boybroke his arm, he requested that Syaoran takes his role as the prince. This was really cute to watch because when the actual play is in motion, the two are dancing together. That is, until the stage lights explode and people start to vanish (this is because there's a spirit floating around and stealing Sakura's clow cards. And to seal this person into a card, a card captor will lose an important feeling. In specific, the ability to love another) Sakura later sealed the spirit into a card (the Hope card) and was about to lose her "important feeling" when the magic chose Syaoran as a sacrifice instead of her. Before this happened, he said, "Even if I do lose this feeling.. I'm still..." then this black power surrounded him and he just kind of stood there. Sakura started crying and said she didn't care if he thought differently now, and she told him that she loved him more than anything. Syaoran didn't react. She start crying again until she heard him say, "Me too, Sakura..." As it turned out,the magic didn't work because I think his feelings toward Sakura were a bit too strong to be taken away (and also with a bit of help from the "Hope" card which Sakura created herself) She was so happy that she took a couple steps back so she could jumptoward him (there was a huge gap between the two of them because the spirit had made a wall vanish) He panicked and told her not to because the building would restore itself soon. She ran and jumped into the air yelling, "I love you!" while he stood ready to catch her.
I do not know the whole Sakura and Syaoran story because I have not been able to see many of the episodes but I thought it was important I include it so I put this story from Catch Me which is a really great website if you want indepth info on the couple.
